IDAHO ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION (IEDA) AWARDS
LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE YEAR AWARDS
BOISE, ID – January 10, 2017 -- The Idaho Economic Development Association (IEDA) awarded Randy Shroll, Senior Development Specialist, Idaho Commerce with the 2016 Bob Potter Lifetime Achievement Award and Burley Economic Development Director Doug Manning with the organization’s Bob Potter Economic Development Professional of the Year Award. The awards are given annually to recognize Idaho’s premier economic development leaders who have made a significant economic development impact in the state and a community.
“For over 30 years, Randy has been a passionate advocate for Idaho,” said Commerce Director Megan Ronk. “He has played a transformational role in countless communities throughout the state, and has been a tireless advocate for business. The Idaho Commerce team is incredibly proud of Randy for his leadership and commitment to growing Idaho’s economy,” she said.
“Idaho is an amazing product and I’ve been fortunate to work with outstanding economic development professionals,” Shroll said. “It is their success that has led to mine and for that, and this award, I am extremely grateful. Together let’s continue to develop the best place to live, work and play in the country.”
IEDA also announced a second award for Economic Developer of the Year.
“Doug Manning, economic development director for Burley, was chosen for this award because of the impressive economic development efforts he has been a part of this year for Burley and Mini-Cassia,” said Dave Thornton, community and customer relations coordinator for Idaho Power and IEDA member who nominated Manning. “Doug has been instrumental in several new business recruitments to Southern Idaho including Dow Chemical and Watco, and is a deeply committed leader and advocate for economic development. He is well deserving of this recognition,” Thornton said.
“I’m honored to have been selected for this significant award, having been selected by so many great economic development professionals from around the state,” Doug Manning said. “This award is for the City of Burley. We have a tremendous development team that includes our administration offices, department heads, Burley Development Authority, the City Council and other community members. Everyone works very hard to make these projects become successful,” he said.
